Religious formation classes for Kindergarten through 8th Grade are
conducted on Monday evenings from 7:15 to 8:30 PM and Tuesday and
Wednesday afternoons from 4:00 to 5:15 PM. All Levels are conducted at
each of the three sessions when there are at least five children on the
Level and volunteer catechist(s) available. The textbook series used is
Faith First. The publishers maintain a web site
to aid parents, teachers and students.
The Religious Formation Program oversees the ordinary administration of
first Reconciliation, first Eucharist (Communion) and Confirmation to
children and youth of St. Peter's Parish.
We expect that parents who wish their children initiated into
sacraments are parishioners and part of the weekly worshipping
community.
St. Peter's follows the diocesan recommendation and requires two years
of preparation for the sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation.
Eucharist is generally administered to children of at least seven years
of age, who have attended two years of St. Peter's School or the
Religious Formation Program. Exceptions can be made for
non-parishioners to receive sacraments from the School or Religious
Formation Program, but children should celebrate sacraments within the
community in which they regularly worship.
Confirmation is usually administered to youth of thirteen or fourteen
years of age who have completed two years of preparation with the St.
Peter's School or our Religious Formation Program.
We are always eager to serve your family and help parents and guardians
bring their children to the sacraments. Please call or stop into the
Religious Formation Office if your have any questions or would like to
begin the process that will lead to the reception of these sacraments.
