Dear parishioners and friends in Christ,

Many thanks to all who participated in the Parish Social Ministry/Outreach Garage Sale this past Saturday.  Due to the inclement weather, we moved the sale into the cafeteria and extended it throughout the Sunday morning Mass schedule.  The sale resulted in more than $2,000 to benefit our Parish Outreach Ministry.  Thank you to Roxana Sienko, our Outreach Director, and her team of volunteers for undertaking this project.

Speaking of the cafeteria, we will be beginning to resurface with new tiles the flooring of this much used and valued facility.  We hope to have this project completed within the next few weeks.  You may have noticed that the parking lot between the convent and the white school has been resurfaced and striped.  The southern exposure of the white school building was given a fresh coat of paint, and the base of the former convent was power washed.

Religious Education will be resuming in the fall, and we are currently planning for another exciting year of Faith Formation.  Classes are now being formed and a lot of work is being done behind the scenes by our new Co-Directors, Mary Byrnes and Maura Vernice.  If your child has not been registered for the fall, please do so immediately.  And, get the word out to parents of children entering the first grade to register.  As always, we continue to look for catechists (teachers) to share the Faith with our young parishioners.  We have a particular need this year for sixth and seventh grade teachers on Monday night from 7-8PM, and grades four, five and six teachers for Tuesday afternoon from 4-5PM.  Thank you for considering this very important and rewarding ministry.  For further information, contact the Religious Education Office, 516-883-5584.

I have received some encouraging news concerning our Catholic Ministries Appeal!  At this point, we are 81% towards reaching our goal in this year’s appeal.  My thanks to the 133 parishioners who have participated so far.  Considering that there are hundreds of families who still have not made a pledge or a one-time gift, these summer weeks ahead might be a good opportunity to join in this very important and worthwhile Diocesan-wide effort.  Thank you for whatever your means will allow you to contribute.

I hope you are enjoying some rest, relaxation and renewal during these summer days.

Have a great week, and God bless you!

Devotedly yours in Christ,

Msgr. Bob Clerkin
