We welcome you to St. Peter's and are happy you have chosen our beautiful church for this incredible moment in your lives. Marriage is a life long commitment that requires great care; we hope you apply the same attention to the planning of your wedding.
Planning ahead is key. Arrangements should be made with us at least 6 months in advance of your proposed wedding date. We cannot promise you a date until both of you have met with the pastor for a pre-nuptial interview. Preference is given to registered members of our parish.
The wedding packet, which contains the wedding guide can be obtained at the rectory or downloaded HERE. This should answer most of your questions and help you with your planning.
Pre-Cana is not currently offered at St. Peter's. However there are many resources on line. Google "Pre-Cana" and you will find many options. For in-person classes, the Diocese of Rockville Centre (drvc.org) offers marriage preparation that can be done in one weekend. Or, you may explore engagedencounterli.org.
Here is a check list of the paperwork you will need to submit to the rectory before your wedding. These are required by the Catholic Church.
New Baptismal Certificate. This cannot be dated more than 6 months before your proposed wedding date. Simply call the church where you were baptized, and a new one will be sent to you. This is a routine procedure at all Catholic rectories.
Marriage License. Get this up to 6 weeks before your wedding.
Wedding Fee. $650.00. This includes the use of the Church, priest, organist and cantor. Our Music Director Rob Bobek will answer any questions you have about the music and alternate performers. He can be reached at 516-967-4710.
If both the bride and the groom are from other parishes, a 50% deposit of the wedding fee, or $325, is required to be presented during the pre-nuptial interview. The wedding will not be officially booked on our calendar until this payment is made. Kindly take this into consideration if you are not parishioners of St. Peter's.
Certificate of completion from Pre-Cana.
Worksheet of your readings and vows. You will be introduced to this during Pre-Cana.
