We know that this is an exciting moment in your lives as you embark on a life-long commitment to each other. Remember that marriage in the Catholic Church is a sacrament of great importance. "The Sacrament of Marriage is a covenant, which is more than a contract ... The marriage covenant refers to the relationship between the husband and wife, a permanent union of persons capable of knowing and loving each other and God. The celebration of marriage is also a liturgical act...Catholics are urged to celebrate their marriage within the Eucharistic Liturgy." (from theUnited States Catholic Catechism for Adults ).
To qualify for having your wedding at St. Peter's, one of you must have a history with the parish by either being a registered parishioner in residence, or having grown up in the parish. If the bride is not a member of St. Peter of Alcantara Church, she must get a letter from her pastor permitting her to be married here.
Planning ahead is key. Arrangements should be made with us at least 6 months in advance of your proposed wedding date. We cannot promise you a date until both of you have met with the pastor for a pre-nuptial interview.
The wedding packet, which contains the wedding guide can be obtained at the rectory. The guide may also be downloaded here. This should answer most of your questions and help you with your planning.

For in-person classes, the Diocese of Rockville Centre (drvc.org) offers marriage preparation that can be done in one weekend. Or, you may explore engagedencounterli.org.
