The Sacrament of Baptism becomes the basis of our Christian life, the gateway to life in the Holy Spirit, and the door which allows us to experience the other sacraments of the church. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons and daughters of God. By being baptized, we become members of the Catholic Church and our parish family.
Schedule of Baptisms:
Your child's baptism should be scheduled at least one month in advance of preferred date.
Baptisms in English are celebrated on Saturday and Sunday at 1:00 p.m., with a 12:45 p.m. arrival time. Please call the rectory at 516-883-6675 to inquire about dates.
For Baptisms in Spanish, please call Rev. Kingsley Nwanwa at 516-767-0781

More about Sponsors
Many times, sponsors are not certain which church they should go to for the required co-signature of a priest. It is quite simply the Catholic church where you live. There is no need to return to the church of your childhood where you received your sacraments if it is not where you presently live.
The Testimony of Designated Sponsor for registered members of St. Peter of Alcantara Parish can be obtained at the rectory (1327 Port Washington Blvd. Port Washington), or may be downloaded at the Diocesan website: Testimony-of-Designated-Sponsor.pdf (drvc.org)
