This month of October we celebrate the Guardian Angels, St. Therese of Lisieux (The Little Flower) and St. Francis of Assisi. It is also the month dedicated to the Rosary and is Pro Life month. It is a very busy and beautiful time of the year!
This afternoon (Sunday), I will have the pleasure of blessing your pets for the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi. All are welcome to seek the blessing of this popular Saint who loved all of God’s creatures and saw the magnificent wonder and splendor of God in all creation. Please gather on the front lawn of the church at 1:00 this afternoon.
Speaking of our young parishioners, our Religious Education Program begins this Sunday morning, October 4th, with classes continuing this Monday and Tuesday. I look forward to welcoming back our many young families. And, of course, let us remember our volunteer catechists (teachers) who will be sharing their Faith (and their time) with our children in grades 1 through 8. A special thanks to our Co-Director, Mrs. Maura Vernice and Mrs. Mary Byrnes and their assistant Mrs. Jeanfre Uys. Thank you to them all!
St Peter’s Men’s Ministry has been meeting for the past year on Saturday morning at 6:30AM in the former convent. This group has been growing and all men are invited. Please join them to discover how Scripture, reflection and fraternity can help men to improve their work, relationships, effectiveness as husbands and fathers, and their contribution to community. The Parish Party committee continues to plan for our Annual Dinner Dance on Friday, November 20th at the North Hempstead Country Club. Please save the date and plan on joining us for a special evening of music, dining, dancing and celebrating all things St. Peter’s. Invitations are in the mail and you should be receiving yours shortly. If you don’t receive one in the mail, invitations are available at the church doors.
The football season is now underway, and we are approaching our parish goal for the 2026 Catholic Ministries Appeal. While we are at 85% towards this goal, we will still need additional support from those parishioner families who have not as yet made a pledge or one-time gift. Remember, no gift is too small, but no gift at all. Your contribution does great work in furthering the important ministries that take place in our Diocese here on Long Island. Please be generous in responding to this annual appeal.
