Dear parishioners and friends in Christ,
Dear parishioners and friends in Christ,
This weekend, as we continue our Independence Day celebrations, and the beginning of summer recess and vacation time, I remind you to make room on your summer schedule for participation at Sunday Mass. Even when travelling, attending Mass at new locations can be very rewarding and interesting experiences. As we have done in the past, I invite you to bring back bulletins from the churches that you have visited, as we always can learn best practices and get new ideas from other parishes.
Once again, I urge families with elementary school aged children to re-register for the coming religious education year beginning this fall. Registration information is on our website, stpeterofalcantara.org/faithformation. And please be mindful that parents of first graders (and new comers to our parish) must register both with the parish and religious education. Also, don’t forget our wonderful “Little Learners Preschool Program” which is also accepting registrations for the new school year (see page 5 of this bulletin).
Speaking of schools, once again this summer the summer camp program from Lutheran High School in Brookville is using our parking lot for drop off in the mornings and pick up in the late afternoons. I have had a long relationship with LuHi dating back to my years as pastor in Brookville. Many residents here in Port Washington attend this camp during the months of July and August. Please be careful in the parking lot on weekdays, especially around the 8:30 a.m. weekday Mass time.
We continue to schedule activities, ministries and programs that will resume in the fall. Please be sure that your requests are directed to Susan Giordano to secure your time and space.
We will be planning for the November 20th Parish Party in the days ahead. Volunteers to assist in the planning are always welcome. Please call the rectory office if you are interested in assisting us. Save the date for what continues to be a most enjoyable opportunity for renewing friendships, with music, dancing, and a magnificent cocktail hour and buffet dinner. And of course, there will be the very popular raffle items, 50/50 and silent auction.
God Bless America on our Holiday Weekend!
Devotedly yours in Christ,
Msgr. Bob Clerkin
